Warm greetings, my name is Tom Schreier and I have the privilege of overseeing the Inspired Leadership Initiative (ILI) as its founding director where since 2016 I have had the honor of working with the leadership, faculty and staff of Our Lady’s University to develop a distinctive program for accomplished leaders who have completed their chosen careers and are looking to pivot to become an even greater force for good. One of those faculty is Steve Reifenberg, who has been a friend and mentor to me and the driving force behind one of the ILI’s initial core courses: Designing an Inspired Life. Co-creating and co-teaching that course has been one of the great experiences of my life. For the past two years I have also had the great fortune of facilitating the LifeDesign Course with Steve and Joe Drey, and others. I tell everyone that this has been one of the most transformative things I have ever done and that I hope it is equally powerful for our students. Before embarking on my second act at Notre Dame I was fortunate to be in leadership positions in both the financial services and airline industries. I am also involved in health care through a senior Board role at Allina Health and am involved in other non-profit and public company governance roles. Most importantly, I am a father of three now-grown children with my wife, Sandi.
